Welcome to the MAAP Website.
The rebirth of MAAP continues as we
carry on multiple efforts to expand and improve our delivery of health and
social services.
We are excited to report that plans to
build a new, state-of-the-art health clinic at our 4241 Florin Road
site have progressed significantly.
We project that we will 'break ground' in September/October 2008, and
that the clinic will open by January/February 2009. In addition to providing primary health
care for adults and children, the clinic will offer internal medicine, family
practice, OB/GYN, pediatric, women s health, dental, mental health, hearing, and
vision services. Additionally, MAAP
will implement innovative and paperless (green) electronic health records
technology as part of our efforts to provide the highest level of quality care
to the community.
As a result of the strong partnership we
have developed with Mercy/Catholic Healthcare West, MAAP will maintain our
health clinic at 7600 Hospital Drive, located next to Methodist Hospital near Hwy. 99 and Bruceville Road.
We are working together to develop
a model delivery system to facilitate the MAAP clinic with serving uninsured,
non-crisis patients who arrive at Methodist Hospital's emergency room. MAAP and Mercy/CHW are committed to
providing preventive primary care services and replicating these systems in
other underserved areas of the county.
We are very pleased to report that we
are advancing with our efforts to increase and enhance our substance abuse,
mental health, HIV, drinker driving, homeless, and residential treatment
programs. We have added new professionals to our
staff and new sites to better serve our clients. MAAP is supporting its staff in seeking
training, credentialing and certification beyond what is required, and will
provide cross-cultural and cultural competency training to all staff
persons. We are also developing and
implementing goals and standards to hold our agency and staff accountable to
higher standards. All of
these efforts continue to be taken to ensure that the many health needs of
South Sacramento's African-American, Asian,
Latino and other ethnic communities are being effectively
met.
MAAP is also proud to report that our
Prisoner Reentry Initiative received a national award Champion of Compassion
from the U.S. Department
of Labor for outstanding service in training and placing recent parolees in
jobs. The New Choice Program has
helped up to 300 individuals to date has maintained a recidivism rate that is
one-third the national average.
Finally, MAAP has begun its Capital
Campaign to raise $1.5 million to construct our new health clinic and to
purchase new medical and office equipment.
Donations can be made payable to MAAP Capital Campaign, and mailed to
MAAP, Inc.,4241 Florin Road, Suite
65, Sacramento, CA

This continues to be a
very exciting time for MAAP as we work toward
fulfilling our vision of creating a model delivery system for providing
comprehensive, preventive health care services in a culturally competent manner
to South Sacramento s underserved communities. We look forward to continuing to serve
local residents as we restructure and strengthen our
agency.
